This one was on my Apple books so I was so excited to get to reading it, it also was on the Goodreads winter challenge so it was a win win.
At the beginning I thought it was going to be about Phoebe's friends wedding, which was going be hard for her since her divorce, then we discover the wedding has nothing to do with her and that she went there to end her life. Which was a surprise until we discover that since her husband left she started seeing everything in a negative light and blamed most of the things that came after because of her husband cheating.
However throughout the book we see how her friendship with Lila reveals more about her own personality and the things she has been missing out on since being married. Then we meet Gary the 'hot tub' guy who happens to be the Groom, he has also lost his wife and becomes another confessional to Phoebe which ends up blossoming into a stronger relationship.
The only thing I didn't appreciate about the book was when Phoebe's husband comes to see her at the hotel, I kind of hoped that she would just do it over the phone instead of him being there. It felt like a loss of progress. However, it is supposed to remind us of how complicated emotions are and how one minute we miss the feelings they gave us and the next we are angry at them for those same emotions.
I liked that at the end we get a snippet of Gary and Phoebe exchanging numbers but not getting together as they both have so much to figure out. It was fun that everyone went their separate ways after finding out about themselves. Showing what most of us go through at weddings, the excited feeling of getting dressed up and pretending to be close to one another before going your separate ways and hardly speaking again.
Overall, I did get quite hooked onto the book after the initial confusion and it was quite addicting, so I would definitely recommend!
Roll on the next book!!
