Summary:

When Rachel agrees to tutor John's daughter Bella, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with the reclusive billionaire. He's sweet, kind and tormented by the tragic death of his wife. As they spend more time together, Rachel discovers a shared longing for connection, for the empathy and and solidarity that are missing from each other's lives.

Main Body:

Funny thing about this book is that it was the only one downloaded on my Apple books and I had already read the books I brought with me to India. I didn't anticipate to read both of the books I had brought in like 2 days of being there and there were no book stores so I had to work with what I had. So that sets the tone for the 10hr flight I was on for the way back to the UK.

It was hard for me to reach the flow of the story but that may have been how sleep deprived I was. So I decided it was only fair to start the book back up when I was more attentive to the detail.

Reading it in a better state helped a lot. I felt like there was some similarities to Cade and Willa in Chestnut springs and I really liked the small town feel where everyone knows each other so well. So I would definitely recommend if you like similar things to that.

The only thing I would've liked is more on John and Rachel's history, like we get a little bit but it was hard to believe they actually liked each other because the tension between them wasn't as intense as it could have been, but then again it was a cosy read that was more focused on them getting closer. Another one that could have been better was how high the stakes were of the threats John was receiving because it kind of all blew over and then no one really acknowledges it again.

However, I loved the relationship between Rachel and Bella and how much love Rachel had for her despite Bella not being her actual daughter. It was so sweet that Bella started it all from a simple letter sent to the bridesmaids HQ asking for someone to marry her dad. I also have to acknowledge my main man Tank the bodyguard of the century who was scared of going into a Walmart.

A little on my favourite character John, he is such a girl dad and it is so nice to see another angle that single fathers have to sacrifice so much. It also got to me when he was explaining how he had missed out on so much of Bella's life so it was so important to him to spend as much time as he could with her.

Overall I would say this is a really good read as a pallet cleanser and a small town girly romance with other plot point and it is really heart-warming. It also doubles as a Christmas book as that is the time frame it is based around.
